Systems Engineer II (Genomics)

Location: Full-time onsite in Fremont, California, United States

Base salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year for work performed in California

What you will do

• Develop, optimize, and test end-to-end workflows for life science automation and liquid handling systems.
• Own workflows from initial concept through customer delivery.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to improve automation efficiency and reliability.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and customize hardware and software components.
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and provide user training and documentation.
• Translate and optimize manual laboratory processes on automated machines with Chemistry and Biology teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Basic understanding of molecular biology, genomics, standard life science laboratory workflows, and laboratory equipment.
• Familiarity with a scripting language such as Python.
• Ability to define and follow complex operating procedures, with a meticulous and hands-on approach.
• Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience developing scientific instruments from a systems integration perspective.
