Sr. Systems Engineer (Laboratory Instrumentation)

Location: Hybrid schedule in Norwood, Massachusetts; minimum four days per week on-site and one day per week working from home.

Salary: $125,000–$145,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead development and integration of complex subsystems and system-level features for laboratory instrumentation.
• Develop and maintain system and subsystem requirements, interface definitions, architecture decisions, trade studies, and risk management activities.
• Design and execute experiments, test plans, protocols, and engineering studies to characterize system performance and feasibility.
• Analyze data, investigate root causes, improve reliability, and reduce technical risks.
• Support prototype development, integration, troubleshooting, verification, and product launch activities.
• Document technical findings, participate in design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience developing complex products or instrumentation systems.
• Experience leading technical investigations from problem identification through corrective action and implementation.
• Experience integrating and troubleshooting multidisciplinary mechanical, electrical, software, thermal, or fluidic systems.
• Strong systems engineering, experimental design, data analysis, requirements management, risk management, and verification skills.
• Proficiency with engineering analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent; familiarity with CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks.
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment, handle instrumentation, use PPE, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with laboratory or regulated product development environments.
• Knowledge of GD&T and DFM/DFA principles.
• Experience developing test fixtures, prototype components, and engineering concepts.
