Chief Estimator (Electrical)

What you will do

• Review electrical drawings, UFGS/UFC specifications, RFPs, and tender documents to define scope and identify gaps or unclear requirements.
• Perform quantity take-offs and prepare complete estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, freight, and logistics.
• Prepare supplier and subcontractor RFQs, evaluate quotations, and normalize technical and commercial offers.
• Identify design discrepancies, constructability concerns, commercial risks, assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, and RFIs.
• Support value engineering, alternative pricing, change orders, and Requests for Equitable Adjustment.
• Coordinate with MEP, Procurement, Engineering, and Project teams while managing multiple tenders and supporting junior estimators and quantity surveyors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in electrical estimation or tendering for medium- to large-scale construction projects.
• Experience preparing complete electrical estimates directly from drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70), international electrical codes, installation methods, equipment costs, labor productivity, subcontracting, and procurement lead times.
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, or equivalent quantity take-off tools, plus estimating software and AutoCAD or Revit drawings.
• Excellent command of English, written and spoken. Advanced Microsoft Excel and good Microsoft Office knowledge are required.

Nice to have

• Experience estimating US Government projects for DoD, OBO, USACE, NAVFAC, or similar organizations.
• Hands-on experience with UFGS and UFC requirements.
• Experience with imported equipment, international shipping, logistics, and customs.
• Background with an Electrical Contractor or MEP Subcontractor, preferably including site exposure.
• AACE or RICS certification or membership.
