Staff Software Engineer - Customer Facing Applied AI

Location: Remote, United States

Base salary: $158,000–$248,000 USD per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set technical direction for AI engineering, including agent architectures, evaluation methods, deployment, and monitoring.
• Design shared AI platform capabilities such as agent frameworks, tool integrations, and evaluation infrastructure.
• Work directly with clients to identify automation opportunities, prototype AI capabilities, and deliver production-quality solutions.
• Move client-specific prototypes into generalized products in partnership with core engineering teams.
• Establish observability, SLOs, and operational practices for reliable AI systems.
• Mentor AI and full-stack engineers and translate client insights into product roadmap priorities.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Professional experience with Python.
• Deep experience building and operating AI/LLM-powered systems in production, including agent architectures, multi-model orchestration, and evaluation at scale.
• Experience designing platforms and technical systems that other engineers build on.
• Experience taking products or capabilities from zero to one and working directly with customers or external stakeholders.
• Strong judgment, communication, and technical leadership skills, plus a BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience designing multi-service AI platform architectures.
• Experience with Java or other backend languages.
• Financial services domain knowledge, including portfolios, trading, document management, or regulatory workflows.
• Production observability, SaaS operational excellence, developer experience, or internal platform experience.
