Platform Engineer II (Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid; New York office, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, or Virginia

Salary: $128,520–$173,000 for Tier 2 or $146,870–$198,030 for Tier 1 in estimated annual base salary, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Build and maintain AWS and GCP cloud infrastructure with Terraform.
• Operate multi-tenant EKS clusters, including upgrades, node lifecycle, networking, and security contexts.
• Support the migration from managed Kafka to WarpStream and maintain related operational tooling.
• Develop Go-based platform tooling, Kubernetes API integrations, reconcilers, and self-service primitives.
• Design foundational networking and security infrastructure, including transit gateways, GCP Interconnect, IAM, IRSA, ingress, and security groups.
• Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, improve runbooks, and use AI automation to prevent recurring issues.

Requirements

• 3+ years of platform engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building and operating AWS infrastructure, such as EC2, EKS, IAM, S3, or VPC.
• Production experience operating or deploying workloads on Kubernetes.
• Experience with infrastructure as code; Terraform is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or shell scripting; Go is preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, on-call rotations, and production incident response.

Nice to have

• Experience building Kubernetes operators or controllers with CRDs, reconcilers, or controller-runtime.
• Familiarity with Kafka, WarpStream, networking, or event-driven systems.
• Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, GitOps, ArgoCD, or Flux.
• Interest in eliminating engineering toil through platform automation.
