CDQI Audit Specialist (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Conduct retrospective and concurrent audits of CDQI specialists’ work, including documentation reviews, compliant query generation, and capture of SOI, ROM, CC/MCC, and HCC.
• Identify missed documentation opportunities affecting reimbursement, quality reporting, patient outcomes, and clinical severity for DRG-based payer patients.
• Evaluate adherence to workflows, policies, coding requirements, regulatory standards, and industry practices.
• Maintain audit tools, scoring methodologies, documentation, and performance indicators such as query rates, response rates, agreement rates, accuracy scores, case mix index impact, and CC/MCC capture rates.
• Provide individualized feedback, develop education plans, mentor new CDQI staff, and deliver presentations on documentation, coding, regulatory updates, and best practices.
• Protect PHI, medical records, audit documentation, and company data while meeting production, quality, accuracy, and objectivity standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of CDI experience and/or auditing experience.
• 3+ years of clinical experience in an academic medical center.
• RN or BSN with CCDS or CDIP certification.
• Successful completion of a CDI skills competency assessment.
• Experience with EMRs and CDI software, including Epic, Cerner, 3M, and Iodine.
• Strong organizational, teamwork, communication, efficiency, and professional judgment skills.
