R&D Robotics Technician IV

What you will do

• Build complex prototype electromechanical sub-assemblies, including computers, power distribution systems, sensors, data acquisition systems, and embedded processors.
• Conduct design validation testing for robot subsystems and complete robotic systems.
• Troubleshoot system failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to design engineers.
• Create test plans and procedures with limited engineering guidance.
• Design custom test fixtures or robot subsystems using CAD tools such as Altium and Catia.
• Plan laboratory equipment, workspaces, project timelines, and long-running test-stand experiments while collecting and communicating test data.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and debugging electromechanical test setups, fixtures, or similar equipment.
• Experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, and thermal probes.
• Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and manage several technical workstreams.
• Ability to communicate test results and data verbally, in spreadsheets or databases, and in written reports or slide decks.
• Ability to work onsite in Billerica, Massachusetts, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with test automation, Python, and command-line operations in a UNIX-like operating system.
• Experience working with robots or robotic systems.
• Experience with Catia, SolidWorks, or similar CAD programs.
• Experience interpreting schematics and PCB layouts.
• Experience with PCB rework and cable assembly, especially technically difficult rework.
