Payroll Specialist

Location: Remote, with candidates required to reside in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, or Texas

Hourly salary: $26.00–$28.75

What you will do

• Process multi-state bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for hourly and salaried employees using Workday and ADP.
• Calculate and validate wages, tax withholdings, deductions, direct deposits, pay cards, and stop-payment requests.
• Balance payroll accounts and process garnishments, bonuses, commissions, severance payments, union dues, and pension contributions.
• Audit time and labor data, resolve discrepancies, and respond to employee payroll inquiries.
• Generate payroll reports, manage payroll tickets, and provide wage information for unemployment claims and government surveys.
• Maintain confidential employee records and upload severance documentation.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience processing multi-state payrolls.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state tax laws, wage policies, and wage-and-hour regulations.
• Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft products, Google Suite, and payroll technology.
• Strong communication, customer service, organization, accuracy, and prioritization skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent education and payroll experience.
• Must reside in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, or Texas.

Nice to have

• Certified Payroll Professional or Fundamental Payroll Certification.
• Direct experience with Workday and ADP.
