Mixed Signal IC Layout Designer

Location: Edinburgh or Newbury, UK. Hybrid schedule with at least 2 days per week in the office. Candidates must be within commuting distance or willing to relocate to the UK work location before starting.

hirify.global develops hardware and software products, with this role supporting its UK analog and mixed-signal IC layout organisation.

What you will do

• Design analog and mixed-signal layouts from size estimation and floor planning through layout completion.
• Apply advanced device matching techniques, including common centroid, isolation, shielding, and dummy devices.
• Perform block-level and chip top-level routing using assisted and automated tools.
• Integrate digital and analog layout while addressing ESD, latch-up, DFM, antenna, electromigration, IR drop, and coupling concerns.
• Troubleshoot layout design issues and LVS verification problems.
• Collaborate with design engineers and other disciplines, contributing to project schedules and process improvements.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in electronic or IC layout CAD specialisation, or a related programme, with proven IC layout design experience.
• Experience laying out analog circuitry in size- and time-constrained environments.
• Proficiency in floor planning, block assembly, and block-level routing.
• Solid understanding of ESD, latch-up, STI, WPE, electromigration, IR drop, cross-coupling capacitance, DFM, and antenna effects.
• Experience with LVS troubleshooting and debugging, plus the ability to solve design problems using technical judgement and creativity.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice to have

• BSc degree in Electronics Engineering or a related programme.
• Experience with multiple IC design CAD tools and foundry PDKs, including BCD planar technologies.
• Ideas and experience for improving the efficiency and automation of layout tasks.
• Knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal fundamentals.
