Operational Controls Specialist (Fintech)

Location: London or remote within the UK; occasional use of the London office is optional. Work from abroad is permitted for up to 20 days per year.

Salary: £50,000–£60,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Build and run the first-line operational controls programme across the Service guild.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews, quality control testing, sample-based checks, and transaction testing across operations.
• Identify errors, exceptions, control gaps, process weaknesses, and operational risks.
• Own the Service guild controls attestation framework and support first-line RCSA exercises.
• Develop QA/QC frameworks, control checklists, sampling methodologies, quality standards, reporting, and management information.
• Coordinate internal audit, external audit, compliance, risk, and regulatory reviews, including evidence and remediation tracking.

Requirements

• Strong experience in Operations QA/QC, control testing, transaction testing, or operational risk management within a bank or financial institution.
• Experience reviewing operational processes and identifying errors, exceptions, control weaknesses, and process gaps.
• Experience recommending improvements to strengthen controls and close remediation actions.
• Strong analytical and MI/data analysis skills, including QA/QC reports, dashboards, and trend analysis.
• Ability to challenge Operations constructively and maintain an independent control mindset.
• Strong writing skills and a focus on clear, readable documentation.
