Senior Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails (AI)

What you will do

• Analyse requirements with Product Owners and translate them into practical solution designs, timelines, and delivery expectations.
• Build and maintain Ruby on Rails features, including data models, service objects, background jobs, migrations, and database queries.
• Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot, reviewing generated code for security, performance, quality, and Rails best practices.
• Write RSpec tests, improve logging and observability, and use metrics to troubleshoot issues and identify improvements.
• Package and release work through CI/CD pipelines, participate in on-call support, and resolve customer-impacting incidents.
• Review pull requests, document technical decisions, mentor engineers, and help improve team practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including 3 or more years with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails, ActiveRecord, service objects, background jobs such as Sidekiq, RSpec, and FactoryBot or an equivalent testing stack.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases, including schema design, migrations, and query performance.
• Working knowledge of AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Practical experience with AI coding assistants, including effective prompting and critical review of generated code.
• Ability to work independently, communicate with Product Owners and stakeholders, and mentor other engineers.

Nice to have

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with JavaScript, Python, or Terraform.
