Sensing & Sensor Fusion Engineer (AI)

Location: Kinderdijk, Netherlands; flexible working with office commuting and home-office support.

Salary: €3,837–€5,930 gross per month, plus 8% holiday allowance.

What you will do

• Analyse sensing requirements for complex maritime applications and select, evaluate, and prototype sensor solutions.
• Develop sensor fusion, signal-processing, and state-estimation methods.
• Integrate cameras, radar, lidar, inertial sensors, fibre-optic sensing, and positioning systems into mechanical, electrical, and control architectures.
• Support AI and data-driven applications with high-quality sensing data.
• Perform laboratory testing, prototyping, and full-scale operational validation.
• Contribute to autonomous operations, object tracking, launch and recovery, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Systems and Control, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of sensors, measurement technology, and sensor fusion.
• Experience or affinity with signal processing, state estimation, or multi-sensor systems.
• Interest in AI, computer vision, data science, and autonomous systems.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools, together with a practical approach to testing and validation.
• Strong English communication skills required; Dutch is a plus.
