Production Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid in New York, NY, with relocation expense coverage to NYC or San Francisco if needed

Salary: $240,000–$330,000 per year plus equity; final compensation depends on location and level.

What you will do

• Build and operate critical infrastructure across compute, storage, messaging, networking, deployment, and observability systems.
• Drive architectural changes that improve reliability, scalability, and system performance across the organization.
• Partner with product teams during design to establish reliable architectures and reusable golden paths.
• Contribute to Ramp’s transition to cellular architecture for international expansion, regulated environments, and enterprise-grade SLAs.
• Build AI infrastructure patterns, developer tooling, and self-service systems that improve engineering productivity.
• Participate in on-call rotation and lead root-cause remediation for incidents and systemic reliability issues.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of software engineering experience delivering production architectures for critical systems.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience writing clean, tested, production-ready code.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems at production scale.
• Experience with a major cloud provider, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with observability practices including SLOs, error budgets, alerting, and dashboards.
• Experience leading technical projects end to end and coordinating across engineering teams; comfort with database query plans, system design, Terraform, and incident response.

Nice to have

• Experience with cellular or multi-tenant architecture patterns.
• Experience with workflow orchestration systems such as Temporal.
• Contributions to developer experience or internal platform tooling.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated industries such as FedRAMP or SOC 2.
