Engineering Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Manage and grow a team of approximately 7–8 AI/ML, backend, and platform engineers, including hiring, performance development, and career growth.
• Guide technical design, architecture reviews, code quality, testing strategy, and CI/CD practices.
• Own architecture for ML training, evaluation, monitoring, retraining, and LLM workflows such as agent orchestration and RAG pipelines.
• Oversee inference services for live payment routing, maintaining strict latency and reliability requirements.
• Ensure strong AWS infrastructure, observability, dashboards, tracing, and on-call runbooks.
• Translate product priorities into executable roadmaps, estimates, timelines, and trade-offs while communicating progress to leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2–3+ years managing and leading engineers.
• Significant experience building and shipping backend or ML systems at scale.
• Practical production experience with AI/ML systems, including agents, RAG, LLM workflow orchestration, model training, or model serving.
• Technical depth in ML systems, backend services, architecture decisions, and engineering delivery.
• Experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineering teams, with clear communication across product and operations.
• Familiarity with payments, fintech, regulated industries, PCI-DSS, or latency-sensitive systems is valuable.

Nice to have

• Experience with payment routing, authorization-rate optimization, tokenization, or PSP integrations.
• Experience with Go, Python, AWS, Terraform, PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, scikit-learn, MLflow, W&B, LangGraph, LangChain, or vector databases.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, structured logging, or hybrid/on-premise deployments.
