Senior FHIR Platform Engineer (Remote Opportunity)

Location: 100% remote within the continental United States; Atlanta, GA listed as the role location.

What you will do

• Design, develop, implement, and support healthcare interoperability solutions using FHIR, HAPI FHIR, and HL7 standards.
• Build standards-based APIs and FHIR capabilities, including US Core, SMART on FHIR, FHIR Bulk Data, CDS Hooks, electronic case reporting, and asynchronous MDM integrations.
• Evaluate integration requirements, healthcare data-exchange needs, and technical constraints to create appropriate solution designs.
• Develop implementation guidance, vendor-facing integration documentation, developer documentation, and detailed specifications.
• Support integration testing, troubleshooting, performance optimization, security, validation, and production readiness.
• Provide technical leadership while collaborating with architects, developers, testers, vendors, and external healthcare partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field, plus 10+ years of related professional experience.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing healthcare interoperability solutions with FHIR and HL7.
• Hands-on experience with HAPI FHIR, FHIR resource modeling, profiles, implementation guides, validation, and conformance.
• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs and integration solutions with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, solution-design, communication, and collaboration skills.
• U.S. citizenship is required; candidates must complete a background check and be able to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance when required.

Nice to have

• Experience with US Core, SMART on FHIR, FHIR Bulk Data, CDS Hooks, electronic case reporting, and asynchronous Master Data Management integrations.
• Experience integrating electronic health records, health information exchanges, clinical applications, and other healthcare systems.
• Experience with healthcare API security, access controls, integration testing, and production-readiness activities.
• Experience supporting federal healthcare programs or government healthcare organizations.
