NPD Project Engineer (Mechanical)

What you will do

• Lead assigned portions of new product design and realization projects, coordinating schedules, budgets, resources, and Stage Gate requirements.
• Develop mechanical designs and perform engineering analysis for new products and subcomponents, including mechanism, thermal, finite element, and multi-physics analysis.
• Build and test prototype components and assemblies, create test plans, coordinate internal and external testing, and review test results.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting for new and existing products and processes.
• Review engineering drawings, approve applicable drawings for manufacturing, and maintain CAD databases and libraries.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, purchasing, sales, marketing, manufacturing, engineers, designers, and technicians on product requirements and production support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive engineering design and/or development experience.
• Experience with 3D parametric modeling, finite element analysis, and mechanical, thermal, and multi-physics design feasibility checks.
• Strong knowledge of mechanism design, linkages, springs, statics, dynamics, material properties, and manufacturing methods including casting, machining, molding, stamping, and forming.
• Experience with DFMEA, DOE, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, technical documentation, technical standards, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to use small hand and power tools and communicate effectively across organizational levels.

Nice to have

• Experience with ProE/Creo and finite element analysis.
• Experience with medium- or high-voltage electrical power systems.
• Experience designing trip-free, stored-energy, or actuated mechanisms.
• Creativity, innovation, initiative, and a willingness to learn new methodologies.
