Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack (React/Ruby on Rails)

Location: Remote within the United States; the remote workforce is described as nationwide.

Salary: $135,000–$150,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead the technical design and implementation of complex full-stack applications.
• Plan and execute technical roadmaps with high autonomy.
• Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and client stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Improve reliability, performance, maintainability, testing, documentation, and observability.
• Present architectural tradeoffs and mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Expert-level experience with React and Ruby on Rails for modern web applications.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating distributed services.
• Experience with cloud-native development, preferably AWS, and monitoring tools such as Datadog.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, testing strategies, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 4 Public Trust or higher.

Nice to have

• Experience with federal government software modernization programs.
• Accessibility experience with Section 508 or WCAG.
• Agile software delivery experience.
• Experience with containerized applications and Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting FedRAMP, FISMA, or other government compliance environments.
