Azure Platform Lead Engineer

Location: Must be located in Charleston, South Carolina or Stafford, Virginia, with periodic visits to the customer site. Work type: Remote with required on-site visits.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead and coordinate a small Azure engineering team across platform, Kubernetes, DevOps/GitHub, and identity functions.
• Guide architecture and oversee Azure services, DevSecOps pipelines, infrastructure-as-code modules, Helm charts, Kubernetes resources, and automation workflows.
• Maintain availability, resiliency, performance, and operational stability across Azure services, CI/CD pipelines, virtual machines, storage, networking, Key Vault, ACR, and container workloads.
• Direct secure CI/CD practices and promote Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, security scanning, container hardening, and compliance automation.
• Lead incident response, troubleshooting, customer onboarding, RBAC, provisioning, documentation, and post-incident actions.
• Support platform modernization, roadmap planning, Agile/SAFe ceremonies, compliance artifacts, and cross-team coordination.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Security+ (IAT II) or an equivalent DoD 8570 certification.
• 5+ years of experience with Azure engineering, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and platform operations.
• Strong proficiency with Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, cloud automation, Linux/Windows administration, PowerShell, and Azure CLI.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, and automated security tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD cloud environments or USMC enterprise systems.
• Knowledge of GitOps, Helm charts, Kubernetes operators, advanced container technologies, Zero Trust, container security, and observability stacks.
• Azure, CKAD/KCNA, or DevOps-related certifications.
• Experience in Agile/SAFe environments.
