Product Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

What you will do

• Partner with product, UX, customers, and engineers to understand problems and lead solutions from discovery through delivery.
• Build and maintain private and public GraphQL APIs supporting the web application, CLI, and customer automation.
• Develop the internal software factory that routes work between Linear, coding agents, and human review.
• Improve agent context, tooling, evaluation workflows, and guardrails used across the codebase.
• Design prototypes and architectures, address technical debt, and establish best practices for Rails, GraphQL, and database design.
• Mentor colleagues, participate in on-call rotation, and troubleshoot issues across the application stack.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails, typically at least five years with Rails or seven years with a comparable web framework.
• Experience designing performant MySQL data models, indexes, denormalization strategies, and solutions for slow queries.
• Experience building AI-agent workflows beyond autocomplete, such as evaluation harnesses, custom tools, MCP servers, or internal automation.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Rails job systems such as Sidekiq, and in-memory datastores such as Redis.
• Experience scaling web applications to thousands of users and millions of events, with knowledge of systems involving many applications or microservices.
• Product judgment, strong interface boundaries, separation of concerns, SOLID principles, empathy, pragmatism, and effective collaboration.
