Senior Software Engineer (AI, Realtime and Personalization): Building AI-native personalization tools and realtime customer journey systems at enterprise scale with an accent on distributed backend services, scalable APIs, and React applications. Focus on designing full-stack features, integrating AI-assisted development, and solving production performance, observability, and reliability challenges.
Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid with 3 days per week in the office. Some travel may be required for team and stakeholder offsites.

What you will do
- Design, build, and ship end-to-end features for the AI-native Personalization Studio and RT2.0 realtime engine.
- Scope features, create technical designs, and break complex product requirements into executable tasks.
- Develop backend APIs and distributed services while contributing to modular React applications.
- Make architectural decisions across frontend, backend, and shared platform components with a focus on scalability, observability, and security.
- Use AI-assisted development tools throughout design, implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation.
- Improve engineering quality through code reviews, mentorship, on-call participation, and production performance investigations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building, shipping, and operating production software.
- Strong backend development skills with Ruby, Go, Java, or Kotlin, including database design and API scalability.
- Working knowledge of React and the ability to build modular, testable UI components across the stack.
- Understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native deployment patterns on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience owning features from scoping and technical design through rollout and post-launch support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
