Senior Software Engineer (Observability)

Base salary: USD $124,000–$329,200 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate high-scale pipelines for logs, metrics, traces, and exceptions.
• Lead cross-team initiatives to remove scaling bottlenecks and improve telemetry collection and processing.
• Develop production software primarily in Go and Ruby, and configure observability tools.
• Work across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, virtual machines, networking, and service connectivity.
• Own system health through monitoring, incident response, on-call participation, and operational improvements.
• Provide technical leadership through design proposals, code reviews, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 3 years building and operating production services or infrastructure in cloud or large-scale distributed environments.
• At least 2 years deploying, configuring, or troubleshooting production workloads with Kubernetes or comparable container orchestration.
• At least 2 years developing production software in Go, Ruby, or a comparable general-purpose language.
• Experience maintaining and delivering production software in one or more supported programming languages.

Nice to have

• Experience building shared platforms for engineering teams.
• Experience with logging, metrics, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, or telemetry platforms such as Datadog.
• Experience with Azure, hybrid infrastructure, networking, service connectivity, and distributed-systems operations.
• Experience leading ambiguous technical work and mentoring engineers through design and code review.
