Senior Cloud Software Engineer - Pre-trade (Gas & Power Industry)

Location: Houston, hybrid with at least 3 days onsite per week. Visa sponsorship is available only for eligible Canadian, Mexican, and French citizens under TN and E-2 visas; H-1B sponsorship or transfer is not supported.

Salary: USD $130,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and support cloud-native applications, APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions on AWS.
• Develop Python backend services and automation for market data, pricing, analytics, and pre-trade workflows.
• Design and maintain high-throughput ETL/ELT data pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Build CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, observability, and secure software-development practices.
• Lead technical and architecture reviews, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing and maintaining reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines with Python and SQL.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, Data Factory, or BigQuery.
• Experience with APIs, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, CI/CD, Git, production support, observability, and incident management.
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms including ECS and EKS.
• Experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or Quantitative Finance.

Nice to have

• Experience in energy trading, commodities, market data, pricing, or financial markets.
• Microsoft Azure, Athena, or Redshift experience.
• Experience with C#/.NET, React, or Angular.
• AWS or Azure certifications.
