Manager, Pipeline Engineering — Power and Energy

Location: Houston, TX; remote considered within the US, with regular site and vendor travel

Salary: $130,000–$210,000 USD base salary, plus potential bonus and equity

What you will do

• Own the design basis for natural gas transmission pipelines, including hydraulic design, MAOP, pressure regimes, line pack, inventory strategy, routing, sizing, and future expansion.
• Perform and direct steady-state and transient hydraulic modeling, translating inventory swing, ramp response, survival time, and curtailment scenarios into operating decisions.
• Develop overpressure protection, regulation, measurement, SCADA, and control philosophies for interconnects, letdown stations, and plant interfaces.
• Lead process safety activities, including HAZOPs, design reviews, action closure, and management of change through design and construction.
• Direct engineering consultants, pipeline construction contractors, upstream operators, and interconnect counterparties through design, construction, testing, commissioning, and first gas.
• Develop engineering standards and reference designs while coordinating with generation engineering, permitting, land, commercial, and commissioning teams.

Requirements

• 12+ years of natural gas pipeline engineering experience across design, construction, and operations, including significant transmission-system leadership or owner's engineer experience.
• Deep hydraulic engineering expertise, including transient modeling of gas transmission systems and interpretation of model results for design and operations.
• Strong process engineering knowledge covering inventory-based systems, regulation, overpressure protection, control philosophy, and HAZOP.
• Working fluency with 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8, including MAOP, class location, and interfaces with plant piping under ASME B31.1 or B31.3.
• Experience with measurement and regulation stations, interstate pipeline interconnects, nominations, transportation mechanics, construction, hydrotesting, and first gas.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related Engineering; PE license preferred. Regular travel to project sites, vendors, and construction locations is required, typically 25% or more during campaigns.
