CDQI Audit Specialist (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Conduct retrospective and concurrent audits of clinical documentation improvement reviews, query generation, and capture of SOI, ROM, CC/MCC, and HCC.
• Identify missed documentation opportunities affecting reimbursement, quality reporting, patient outcomes, and clinical severity.
• Evaluate adherence to workflows, policies, coding standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain audit tools, scoring methodologies, documentation, and program performance metrics.
• Provide individualized feedback, develop education plans, mentor new staff, and deliver training on documentation, coding, and regulatory updates.
• Protect patient health information, medical records, audit documentation, and company data in accordance with HIPAA and information governance standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of clinical documentation improvement experience and/or auditing.
• 3+ years of clinical experience in an academic medical center.
• RN or BSN qualification with CCDS or CDIP certification.
• Successful completion of a CDI skills competency assessment.
• Experience with EMRs and CDI software, including Epic, Cerner, 3M, and Iodine.
• Strong organization, communication, teamwork, accuracy, and professional judgment.
