Field Scientist (FTIR)

Location: Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, United States. Onsite field role requiring local and out-of-town travel, overnight stays, weekend work, and travel 50–75% of the time.

Salary: $23.50–$26.50 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform in-field FTIR-based testing and stack testing of emission sources.
• Assist with laboratory FTIR sample analysis and calibration development.
• Process data, validate results, and prepare technical reports.
• Troubleshoot analytical testing data and equipment, documenting corrective actions for field teams.
• Set up, operate, and maintain analytical testing equipment.
• Support SOP development, training, safety activities, and regulatory updates.

Requirements

• Entry-level profile with 0–3 years of experience in an analytical laboratory setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering; chemistry is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain DOT medical certification and an OSHA Respiratory Protection Medical Evaluation.
• Ability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening.
• Ability to work outdoors in industrial settings, climb elevated platforms up to 300 feet, lift up to 50 pounds, and travel overnight for multi-weekday projects.
