TL;DR
Scientist I – Molecular Diagnostics (Oligonucleotide Chemistry): Supporting the manufacturing, characterization, validation, and continuous improvement of diagnostic products through hands-on wet-laboratory experiments and analytical testing with an accent on oligonucleotide chemistry, data analysis, and regulated laboratory documentation. Focus on executing experiments, investigating technical issues, and maintaining quality-system and validation records in an on-site product-development environment.
Location: On-site in Des Plaines, Illinois; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; 40 hours per week

What you will do
- Support oligonucleotide manufacturing, characterization, validation, and continuous improvement for diagnostic products.
- Design, execute, and document laboratory experiments under the guidance of senior scientists.
- Perform wet-laboratory testing using analytical chemistry instrumentation and established methods.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare technical summaries.
- Assist with oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, analytical characterization, and assay development.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to investigate product, laboratory, and technical documentation issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, organic chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Hands-on experience in a wet laboratory environment and a general understanding of organic chemistry.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, data-analysis, and documentation skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Ability to follow laboratory procedures, safety requirements, quality standards, and established documentation practices.
- Ability to work on-site in Des Plaines, Illinois, during the stated Monday–Friday schedule.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, characterization, or assay development.
- Experience with analytical chemistry instrumentation or small-molecule chemistry.
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO, FDA regulations, quality systems, change control, validation, or technical documentation.
