Root Cause Analysis Engineer

Location: On-site in Maplewood, Minnesota; Menomonie, Wisconsin; or Hutchinson, Minnesota, United States. Travel may include up to 25% domestic and international travel. Relocation may be authorized. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Salary: $188,251–$230,084 annual compensation range, including base pay and variable incentive pay if eligible.

What you will do

• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities for analytical laboratory development and improvement.
• Lead studies and validate physical and analytical test methods for product defects and production challenges.
• Operate analytical instruments including gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, FTIR, DSC, DMA, TGA, and rheometers.
• Conduct raw material, in-process, and final product testing in an analytical laboratory.
• Coordinate manufacturing forensics training and present project results to the technical community.
• Improve laboratory operations, standard work, testing workflows, cycle times, test methods, and laboratory capabilities using Lean Six Sigma.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• At least five years of laboratory experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Experience analyzing problems, diagnosing root causes, and applying corrective actions.
• Experience with statistical and quality data analysis tools, including exploratory data analysis, Gage R&R, ANOVA, FMEA, SPC, capability analysis, acceptance sampling, correlation and regression, and experimental design.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment is beneficial.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience working in a manufacturing setting and pace.
