Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Pell City, Alabama, United States. Remote-field role requiring residence within the listed ZIP-code territory and service of the same area; work is performed from home and a mobile office/vehicle, with in-person property appointments and occasional travel to other territories.

Salary: $59,059.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess damage for residential, commercial, and large-loss property claims.
• Meet with policyholders, explain coverage, gather information, and provide customer service throughout the claims process.
• Collect evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed reports using mobile and desktop tools.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate policy terms and local regulations, then negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits.
• Work flexible schedules, including possible overtime, irregular hours, and occasional support for other territories.

Requirements

• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, interpret detailed policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills, including the ability to handle difficult conversations.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical agility to lift, carry, climb ladders, navigate roofs at various heights, and crawl in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license; successful completion of required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and applicable assessments.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property claims experience.

Nice to have

• Strong knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial building construction.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
• Rope and harness safety training or willingness to complete it.
