TL;DR
Engineering Technician D (Electronics/Mechanical Systems): Supporting the construction, integration, testing, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and maintenance of electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and optical systems with an accent on fault isolation, system performance verification, and advanced diagnostic work. Focus on resolving complex technical issues, interpreting test results, recommending corrective actions, and mentoring junior technicians in a defense technology environment.

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; onsite at the Salt Lake City facility. Schedule: 2nd shift, 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

What you will do

  • Construct, integrate, test, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and optical systems.
  • Diagnose complex issues, isolate faults, and verify system performance using schematics, engineering drawings, test procedures, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Conduct calibration, alignment, and functional checks; adjust or replace components and document results.
  • Interpret test results and recommend corrective actions to improve manufacturing, engineering, and test operations.
  • Mentor junior technicians and provide technical recommendations and guidance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with at least 4 years of related experience.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and independent judgment skills.
  • Proficiency with test equipment, diagnostic tools, technical documentation, and prescribed reporting formats.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Salt Lake City, Utah facility during the 2nd shift.
  • Some positions may require eligibility to obtain a security clearance, which may be limited to U.S. citizens.

  • Experience supporting process improvements and recommending new procedures or methods.
  • Experience leading or facilitating technical work within a team.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding other technicians.
