TL;DR
Project Monitor III (Federal Grants/DOE): Monitoring Weatherization Assistance Program grants across the full lifecycle, from application and plan review through post-award oversight and closeout, with an accent on technical evaluations, financial tracking, and compliance. Focus on reviewing recipient performance, identifying corrective actions, tracking milestones and budgets, and maintaining official DOE documentation.

Location: United States; includes both desktop and on-site monitoring support

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

  • Monitor Weatherization Assistance Program grants throughout the application, planning, post-award, and closeout stages.
  • Review recipient applications, plans, technical submissions, performance reports, and financial reports.
  • Evaluate technical submissions, identify corrective actions, and recommend refined project requirements.
  • Track milestones, budgets, and technical targets against approved plans and report discrepancies to Project Officers.
  • Support award closeout through quality assurance review of closeout documentation.
  • Maintain official grant files in Department of Energy systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, environmental sciences, or a related discipline; eight years of relevant education or experience may substitute.
  • At least eight years of relevant experience; a master’s degree may substitute for two years.
  • Experience with the Federal Government, preferably the Department of Energy.
  • Experience with financial assistance documentation and financial tracking systems.
  • Experience in technical writing, editing, document development, production, layout, and desktop publishing.
  • Knowledge of modeling, measurement, mathematics, statistics, economic disciplines, and operational research methods.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting the Weatherization Assistance Program.
  • Experience supporting the Office of State and Community Energy Programs or the Department of Energy.
  • Familiarity with Department of Energy systems.
