Software and Controls Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test embedded control systems for vehicle and non-vehicle applications.
• Implement control algorithms for propulsion, chassis, and other complex systems within supervisory controls.
• Develop custom in-house controls solutions and optimize performance across complex electrical architectures.
• Calibrate controls, support software verification, and validate system features.
• Collaborate with systems integration engineers, technical leads, embedded controls teams, and cross-functional program teams.
• Document algorithm design decisions, participate in peer reviews, and present technical updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, computer science, or computer engineering.
• Experience with embedded controls, including algorithms, software, or calibration.
• At least 2 years of experience with C programming, MATLAB, and Simulink algorithm development.
• Experience with INCA, Vehicle Spy, Git, Jenkins, data logging tools, and related file formats.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.
• Must be a U.S. Person.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Agile CI/CD workflow experience and familiarity with GM’s VIP electrical architecture.
• Vehicle development, vehicle build, or GM Level 2 Driving Certification experience.
• GM DFSS Green or Black Belt Certification, or progress toward certification.
