Advanced Product Development & Integration Engineer (Embedded Systems & Autonomy)

Location: hirify.global Corporate, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The role includes outdoor bench, flight, ground, and on-water testing, approximately 25% travel, and occasional extended hours or weekend work for test events.

What you will do

• Evaluate microcontrollers, compute platforms, sensors, autopilots, software frameworks, and partner technologies through prototyping and hands-on testing.
• Develop C/C++ firmware, bring up embedded hardware, and integrate drivers for sensors, payloads, and vehicle electronics.
• Configure and extend Betaflight, ArduPilot, PX4, embedded Linux, Jetson, MAVLink, ROS 2, DroneCAN, and related vehicle interfaces.
• Develop autonomy software for navigation, path planning, obstacle avoidance, mission execution, state estimation, sensor fusion, and multi-agent coordination.
• Build simulation, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop environments; analyze mission logs and troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, and vehicle issues.
• Support datalink, telemetry, video, manufacturing test, firmware releases, customer demonstrations, and field testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of embedded development experience on physical hardware, preferably in unmanned systems, robotics, aerospace, marine, automotive, or defense.
• Strong C and C++ programming skills with ARM Cortex-M/STM32 and bare-metal or RTOS development experience.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet, Git, Linux, schematics, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD tools.
• Exposure to autonomy, robotics, navigation, state estimation, path planning, or mission-execution frameworks.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, must not require sponsorship for export-controlled work, and must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with ArduPilot, PX4, Betaflight, MAVLink, uORB, DroneCAN, QGroundControl, or Mission Planner.
• Embedded Linux on Jetson, Yocto, device trees, kernel drivers, system services, video streaming, or GStreamer.
• ROS 2, perception, computer vision, GPS-denied navigation, edge AI, sensor fusion, or swarm autonomy experience.
• Experience with multi-domain UxS, military unmanned systems, FPV platforms, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or mission-critical software releases.
• Active or current U.S. Secret or Top Secret clearance and an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
