Software Engineer (Repositories)

Location: Remote in Canada

Base salary: $170,000–$231,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Build and improve customer-facing package registries, APIs, and artifact-serving systems.
• Develop and operate backend services in Go serving libraries and supporting future containers, images, APKs, and other artifact types.
• Deliver projects from technical design through testing, rollout, monitoring, and iteration.
• Improve scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and load testing for production systems.
• Participate in decisions about service boundaries, APIs, data flows, and operational patterns.
• Investigate production issues, review code, and collaborate with engineering and product partners.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software development experience, including backend or infrastructure work.
• Experience with Go, or strong programming experience in another language with the ability to learn Go quickly.
• Experience taking software from implementation through testing and release.
• Interest in package registries, artifact repositories, APIs, developer platforms, or comparable backend systems.
• Knowledge of testing, code review, debugging, version control, and production service operation.
• Systems-oriented thinking, clear communication, curiosity, and effective collaboration in a remote environment.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
• Strong Go or deep backend systems experience.
• Experience owning infrastructure projects from design through production operation.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Strong judgment in reliability, observability, performance, security, and operational tradeoffs.
