Backend Engineer, Control Plane (Go)

Location: Remote (Canada)

Salary: CAD 218,420–302,840 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and document core software components.
• Develop features for the control plane, relay infrastructure, identity integrations, open-source client, and backend services.
• Own services throughout their lifecycle, including observability, incident response, and customer support escalations.
• Analyze and improve system efficiency, scalability, and stability.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and technical engineering teams on product direction and implementation.
• Apply a security-first approach to system design and development.

Requirements

• Experience with distributed systems.
• Professional experience with Go.
• Experience with one or more SQL databases.
• Familiarity with networking concepts such as IP addressing and routing.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate asynchronously, and give and process constructive feedback.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
