Senior Software Engineer - Java-Oracle

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work required

Salary: CAD $98,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, support, and monitor Java-based applications and integration solutions.
• Build and maintain Java services, APIs, and Kafka or MQ messaging integrations.
• Analyze business requirements and processes, then implement practical technical solutions.
• Develop, test, debug, document, deploy, and support application functionality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Monitor application, API, and integration performance, investigate alerts and failed messages, and support incident resolution.
• Lead small technical workstreams, collaborate across teams, and provide guidance to less-experienced colleagues.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience developing and supporting Java applications.
• Experience building Java services, APIs, and system-to-system integrations.
• Experience with Kafka, MQ, or comparable enterprise messaging platforms, including message production, consumption, and troubleshooting.
• Experience across requirements analysis, development, testing, debugging, documentation, deployment, and post-production support.
• Experience monitoring performance, investigating production incidents, and supporting issue resolution.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, solve complex technical problems, and communicate clearly with business and technology stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Oracle database experience, including Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
• Experience integrating Java applications with Oracle databases.
• Experience improving application performance, reliability, and operational monitoring.
• Experience leading small development projects or mentoring developers.
