Bindery Operator 1

Location: Timonium, Maryland, United States; onsite, 2nd shift from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Salary: $18.49–$26.93 per hour

What you will do

• Set up, adjust, and operate auxiliary and automatic bindery equipment, including folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding or gluing machines.
• Operate perfect binders and integrated finishing systems that process printed sheets into completed books, catalogs, manuals, directories, and magazines.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and use hand tools and specialized tools to maintain operating accuracy.
• Coordinate multiple machine stations and make adjustments based on paper conditions and dimensional requirements.
• Direct the production crew and monitor quality, output, and productivity.

Requirements

• Knowledge of bindery equipment, including folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding or gluing machines.
• Experience setting up, adjusting, and operating powered finishing equipment with multiple functions and stations.
• Ability to identify paper weights, sizes, types, colors, moisture issues, and curling that may require machine adjustments.
• Basic mathematics skills, including decimals and metric units, for interpreting dimensional requirements.
• Ability to read work instructions, maintain dimensional accuracy, and use standard and specialized hand tools.
