Staff Category Manager (Packaging)

Location: On-site in Gelang Patah, Johor, Malaysia; travel to supplier and manufacturing sites as needed.

What you will do

• Own and execute packaging category strategies for manufacturing sites in Malaysia and China.
• Lead supplier sourcing, negotiations, contracting, performance management, and escalations.
• Support new product introductions, packaging changes, supplier qualifications, and capacity expansions.
• Drive cost reduction, should-cost analysis, productivity programs, and CAPEX/OPEX planning.
• Manage supplier risk through assessments, continuity planning, and mitigation actions.
• Monitor supplier compliance, quality, delivery, cost, risk, regulatory, and ESG metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
• Ideally 5–8 years of experience in procurement, supply management, engineering, or operations.
• Experience managing suppliers and categories in a regulated manufacturing environment; medical device experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, components, and supplier manufacturing processes.
• Experience working with suppliers in China and Malaysia, with strong negotiation, analytical, and financial skills.
• Experience with contract negotiation and SAP or similar ERP systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with Power BI or reporting tools.
• Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.
• Medical device manufacturing experience.
