Lead Buyer (Mechanical Components)

What you will do

• Own category strategy for mechanical components, including drawing-based parts, while ensuring competitive cost, quality, and supply reliability.
• Lead supplier identification, evaluation, development, performance management, and strategic sourcing activities.
• Drive cost optimization and value engineering using total cost of ownership and cost analysis.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and global purchasing teams on technical requirements, localization, prototyping, and machine transfer projects.
• Analyze markets, spend, bills of materials, supplier benchmarks, and cost drivers to identify standardization, consolidation, and savings opportunities.
• Manage supply risks, capacity constraints, business continuity exposure, purchasing authority, and compliance with internal procedures and ISO standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or related supply chain functions, preferably in manufacturing or project-based environments.
• Experience in category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier development.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical components, material standards, engineering drawings, and BOMs.
• Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
