Manufacturing Engineer - Industrial and Process Engineering

Location: Burton, Michigan, United States; onsite full-time. Regular work in an active processing-center environment is required. Travel of less than 25% may be required, including occasional extended onsite support or work outside standard hours. This role is not eligible for relocation benefits; relocation costs are the candidate's responsibility.

What you will do

• Design and improve workstations, layouts, processes, material flow, labor plans, staffing models, and capacity solutions.
• Conduct standard-time studies, work measurement, method studies, process balancing, and throughput analyses.
• Create and maintain standardized-work documentation, including Job Element Sheets and Standard Operation Sheets.
• Identify waste, bottlenecks, variation, quality risks, and capacity constraints using data, direct observation, root-cause analysis, and Lean principles.
• Develop project concepts, requirements, cost estimates, implementation plans, business cases, and measurable success criteria.
• Lead cross-functional implementation, pilot runs, process validation, issue management, and handoff to Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related discipline; relevant experience may substitute.
• Five or more years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, warehouse engineering, logistics engineering, or a related operational environment.
• Experience with work measurement, time studies, standard-time development, labor planning, process balancing, or capacity analysis.
• Experience designing or improving workstations, layouts, material flow, and standardized work documentation.
• Ability to independently manage complex assignments, make engineering judgments, communicate recommendations, and lead cross-functional work without direct authority.
• Ability to work regularly onsite in an active processing-center environment and collaborate directly with Operations personnel.

Nice to have

• Experience in warehouse, fulfillment, material handling, storage, distribution, or processing-center operations.
• Experience with facility expansions, automation, material-handling equipment, tooling, or technology deployments.
• Knowledge of ergonomics assessment, facility and workstation layout, process simulation, or throughput modeling.
• Experience in a represented or highly collaborative operations environment.
• Lean Six Sigma training or certification.
