TL;DR
Calibration and Repair Technician (57720) (Precision Instruments): Repairing and calibrating mechanical, electrical, and electronic inspection, measuring, and testing equipment in the laboratory and at customer sites with an accent on precision measurement, troubleshooting, and compliance. Focus on diagnosing instrument failures, performing soldering and component replacement, documenting calibration results, and supporting local and regional customer service travel.

Location: Based at the lab in Corydon, Indiana, with service work at customer locations and approximately 20% overnight local and regional travel.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and calibrate mechanical, electrical, and electronic instruments and equipment.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble precision instruments according to manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, multimeters, torque analyzers, pressure gauges, and temperature measurement devices to verify equipment performance.
  • Perform soldering, component replacement, and minor electronic repairs.
  • Maintain calibration standards, tools, laboratory equipment, service records, and repair documentation.
  • Provide calibration and repair services in the laboratory and at customer sites while meeting safety, quality, and turnaround requirements.

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status is required for access to ITAR-controlled information.
  • At least two years of hands-on mechanical, electrical, physical, or dimensional calibration or related experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or technical education is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with experience repairing and calibrating precision instruments and test equipment.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, soldering equipment, electronic test instruments, technical manuals, drawings, and calibration procedures.
  • Ability to work 40 or more hours when needed, lift 60 pounds, maintain a clean driving record, and pass a background check and drug screen.
