Senior Spectrum Engineer (ITU-R and 3GPP)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid work with regular on-site presence at the Barcelona HQ. International travel several times a year is required for in-person ITU-R and 3GPP meetings.

Sateliot is a satellite company developing a constellation that enables standard commercial devices to communicate directly from space.

What you will do

• Lead the technical position behind the spectrum strategy, including candidate bands, spectrum sharing, and compatibility with other radio technologies.
• Participate in ITU-R work and shape WRC-27 and future agenda items, including direct-to-device allocations above 3 GHz.
• Represent the company in 3GPP RAN4 and RAN1 working groups on coexistence, RF requirements, and multi-RAT spectrum sharing.
• Lead sharing and interference studies, including PFD, EPFD, and link-budget analysis.
• Translate regulatory constraints into requirements for radio access roadmaps, band plans, terminal RF, and the device ecosystem.
• Act as the technical counterpart to Regulatory and represent the company before regulators, standards bodies, and external advisors.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in spectrum engineering for mobile or satellite systems, typically closer to 15 years.
• Direct experience with ITU-R or WRC preparation, study groups, working parties, CEPT, APT, or a national administration.
• Hands-on RF and coexistence engineering experience in 3GPP RAN4 or RAN1.
• Experience translating regulatory constraints into radio design, band-plan, terminal RF, device, and interference-mitigation requirements.
• Working proficiency in English is required.
• Willingness to travel internationally several times a year and maintain regular on-site presence in Barcelona is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite direct-to-device, MSS allocations, or IMT bands.
• Sharing studies involving terrestrial IMT, fixed, FSS, or adjacent services.
• Experience as a named delegate, rapporteur, or contributor in the regulatory community.
• Exposure to the Spanish administration, CEPT/CPG, or APT processes.
