Engineer, Design Mechanical (Natural Gas)

Location: Owensboro, Kentucky, United States; travel up to 25% by automobile and plane

What you will do

• Lead and oversee engineering activities for major natural gas infrastructure capital projects.
• Prepare project scopes, estimates, layouts, construction workspace drawings, mechanical construction drawings, and fabrication drawings.
• Size, specify, and order mechanical equipment and materials for pipeline, measurement, regulation, compression, and storage projects.
• Coordinate internal teams, third-party engineers, contractors, procurement, environmental specialists, land representatives, and fabrication inspectors.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for operating issues across gas transmission and storage facilities.
• Develop design standards, analyze technical data and vendor information, and support studies improving system safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
• Entry-level experience in design engineering or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility for insurability under company policy.
• Ability to work in an open office and outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, independent-working, and problem-solving skills.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with a strong focus on safe work practices.

Nice to have

• Five years of experience designing, constructing, or operating natural gas facilities.
• Fundamentals of Engineering certificate, Professional Engineering license, or an advanced degree.
• Project leadership or construction experience.
• Experience with financial reporting or project execution software and natural gas pipeline materials.
• Knowledge of CFR DOT 192, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API 5L, ANSI B16.5, MSS SP-75, and AGA standards.
