Staff Operations Engineer - Hybrid Cloud Networking (Azure)

Location: Remote within Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, or California. Washington-based employees within reasonable driving distance of Tukwila are expected to work from headquarters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; occasional travel of up to 10% may be required.

Salary: Target pay range of $156,200–$190,800 annually; full pay range of $121,200–$225,800 annually, plus performance-based incentives.

What you will do

• Design and support hybrid and bi-modal cloud infrastructure using Azure hub-and-spoke networking, Virtual WAN, VPN, and ExpressRoute.
• Define scalable cloud-native networking architectures, standards, landing zones, policy guardrails, and governance frameworks.
• Lead infrastructure-as-code, cloud automation, and CI/CD initiatives using Terraform, scripting languages, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
• Improve observability, monitoring, diagnostics, reliability, availability, and performance across cloud platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, conduct advanced code reviews, build prototypes, and create technical network documentation.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with architects, executives, product teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders while participating in on-call rotations and after-hours deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of related experience, including Azure and cloud infrastructure environments.
• At least 2 years of experience across two or more infrastructure or technology disciplines.
• Advanced experience with Azure IaaS/PaaS, cloud-native systems, infrastructure-as-code, cloud automation, and scripting, preferably PowerShell.
• Experience designing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and taking infrastructure systems into production.
• Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies, lean principles, cloud networking, and communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Strong Azure networking expertise, including hub-and-spoke architecture, Virtual WAN, DNS, and routing.
• Experience with Terraform, CI/CD platforms, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, AKS, or Kubernetes networking.
• Experience with ITIL, service management, governance, policy, security controls, and secure cloud infrastructure design.
• Advanced degree or Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-700, AZ-500, or AZ-305.
