Senior Software Engineer (Packet Forwarding Software)

Location: Hybrid, with an average of two days per week from an HPE office; salary listing specifies California, United States.

Salary: USD 136,500–276,500 annual base salary in California, United States. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Architect and develop packet-forwarding features for PTX Series routers.
• Implement IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, SRv6, multicast, GRE, LAG, and tunneling features.
• Translate packet-forwarding requirements from product line managers into software implementations.
• Work with test teams to qualify and deliver high-quality products.
• Engage with customers and participate in industry forums.
• Maintain and enhance existing packet-forwarding features.

Requirements

• At least a BS degree in computer science or electrical engineering and 8 years of work experience.
• At least 6 years of C programming experience.
• At least 2 years of C++ programming experience.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with Linux and Python.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
