Equipment Engineer General / USP LVV (Biotech)

Location: Sassenheim, Netherlands; onsite manufacturing role with 24/7 troubleshooting duty every four weeks.

Base pay: €44,700–€70,840 annually.

Johnson & Johnson MedTech operates a lentiviral vector production facility supporting CAR-T treatments for multiple myeloma.

What you will do

• Own general equipment and upstream processing systems, including fridges, freezers, TCSUs, incubators, cell-culture systems, and single-use bioreactors.
• Provide acute troubleshooting and cGMP batch support for LV Operations.
• Analyze equipment performance and propose improvements to safety, quality, reliability, efficiency, and cost.
• Plan and control changes, lead system and facility projects, and collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other sites.
• Ensure equipment remains validated, documented, maintained, and capable of meeting production capacity plans.
• Prepare equipment reports and KPIs and execute test protocols that improve systems and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, biomedicine, process technology, or equivalent.
• 3–4 years of manufacturing experience in a biotechnology or biopharmaceutical environment.
• Knowledge of fridges, freezers, TCSUs, cell culturing, incubators, and single-use bioreactor control.
• Experience in a cGMP environment and with EHSS standards; Annex 1 knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to perform 24/7 troubleshooting every four weeks.
• English at B2 level is required; Dutch is listed as a preferred language.

Nice to have

• Experience with Annex 1 guidelines.
• Knowledge of agile manufacturing, analytics dashboards, CMC, data analysis, gap analysis, operational excellence, and process optimization.
