What you will do
- Lead Japan-based, cross-functional R&D project teams as an extension of global development teams.
- Integrate Japan regulatory, clinical, operational, portfolio, and commercial insights into global asset development strategies.
- Translate global strategies into scenario-based country delivery plans, managing feasibility, risk, resources, and value trade-offs.
- Represent Japan R&D in governance forums and coordinate execution with global and regional stakeholders.
- Drive decision-making, conflict resolution, issue escalation, and strategic trade-offs across project teams.
- Represent R&D in scientific forums, health authority interactions, and key stakeholder engagements.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in drug development within cross-functional matrix teams in a global R&D organization.
- Knowledge of global drug development, registration, and pharmaceutical portfolio risk management.
- Working knowledge of Japan and/or China local practices, policies, and regulations.
- Proven experience delivering outcomes as part of a cross-functional project team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Japanese required.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in medical, pharmaceutical, regulatory, quantitative sciences, business, or a related discipline.
- MD, PhD, PharmD, or MBA.
