TL;DR
Safety Quality Engineer (Aerospace): Supporting safety and quality management systems for mission- and safety-critical aerospace and defence equipment with an accent on hazard management, audits, regulatory compliance, and process improvement. Focus on analysing safety and quality data, investigating non-conformances, developing corrective actions, and maintaining compliance with aerospace standards and UK regulatory requirements.

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, UK. Candidates must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and successfully complete the required level of UK National Security Vetting.

What you will do

  • Support hazard identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation, safety reporting, safety documentation, training, and occurrence investigations.
  • Maintain and improve safety and quality management systems in partnership with Compliance Monitoring, Operations, Engineering, suppliers, customers, and regulators.
  • Analyse safety and quality data, metrics, process controls, and performance reports to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support internal and external audits, supplier quality assessments, engineering design reviews, and resolution of quality issues.
  • Assist with quality plans, proposals, operator approval processes, company approvals, and airworthiness-related requirements.
  • Contribute to process mapping, lean activities, continuous improvement, and the development of a business improvement culture.

Requirements

  • Clear understanding of identifying, categorising, and managing hazards and risks associated with aerospace products.
  • Proven quality, business improvement, and quality management system experience in a manufacturing or supply-chain environment.
  • Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external audits, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulatory frameworks, including AS9100, CAA Part 21, and CAA/EASA Part 145.
  • Strong communication, planning, decision-making, stakeholder management, and teamwork skills.
  • UK work authorisation without restrictions and the ability to complete UK National Security Vetting are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience in an aerospace organisation and Certified Quality Auditor training.
  • Engineering education, A-level qualification at grade C or above, or a degree.
  • Knowledge of FOD, counterfeit avoidance, First Article and Parts Approval reporting, AS9102, PPAP, SPC, KPIs, process mapping, and quality management software.
