Head of Professional Services (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, Austin, or New York City, with three days per week required in the office.

Salary: $300,000–$370,000 annual base pay in San Francisco, plus an annual bonus. Compensation may be adjusted for employee location and may include equity and other variable pay.

What you will do

• Build, lead, and develop the global Professional Services organization across Technical Account Management and Forward Deployed Engineering.
• Define engagement models, delivery methodology, staffing, measurement, and account qualification for embedded support.
• Own strategic customer engagements from discovery and technical scoping through production deployment and stabilization.
• Establish services packaging, pricing, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
• Provide hands-on architecture reviews, system design, and support for critical customer engagements.
• Create scalable playbooks and reference architectures, coordinate handoffs, and translate field insights into product feedback.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, forward deployed engineering, or technical consulting, including at least 5 years leading customer-facing engineering or delivery teams.
• Experience building a team, function, or service line from zero, including hiring, methodology, and operating model design.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and cloud infrastructure, with the ability to review code and architectures.
• Experience building or deploying LLM-powered applications and understanding how model behavior affects product decisions.
• Commercial experience scoping, pricing, and delivering enterprise technical engagements, including utilization, margin, and capacity management.
• Demonstrated success embedding with customer engineering teams to deliver complex production systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with Vercel, Next.js, AI SDK, or v0.
• Leadership experience with forward deployed or embedded engineering teams at an AI-native or developer platform company.
• Experience owning a professional services P&L or defining services pricing and packaging from scratch.
• Comfort representing the function at conferences, executive customer briefings, or large-scale events.
