TL;DR
Hardware Development Engineer (GPS): Developing high-performance aviation GPS receiver hardware and programmable logic across the full product life cycle with an accent on mixed-signal, RF, digital, power, and embedded systems design. Focus on circuit-card development, FPGA resource planning, board bring-up, BSP development, signal integrity, verification, and DoD-compliant product assurance.

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; office-based. Open to candidates willing to relocate. Active U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret DoD security clearance are required.

Salary: $119,500–$164,400 per year, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

  • Lead the life-cycle development of circuit card assemblies and programmable logic from concept through production and sustaining engineering.
  • Design, implement, and test complex digital, analog, RF, power, and mechanical subsystem interfaces for aviation GPS receivers.
  • Perform schematic capture, board layout, board bring-up, circuit simulation, and technical specification development.
  • Develop BSPs and support hardware bring-up for CISC/RISC CPU and microcontroller-based systems.
  • Drive root-cause analysis, corrective actions, configuration control, production transitions, and manufacturing problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with certification and quality leads to meet development assurance and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of mixed-signal, board-level circuit design experience.
  • Experience with RF signals, high-speed ADCs, FPGAs, SERDES, or equivalent high-speed interconnects.
  • Experience scoping FPGA resources, conducting circuit simulations, and addressing signal integrity issues including isolation, crosstalk, and interference.
  • Knowledge of complex power supply control architectures, memory and peripheral systems operating at 200 MHz or above, and microcontroller programming.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a similar field.
  • Active U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance; citizenship and prior DoD clearance activity must be indicated.
