Senior Staff Engineer, UI Architect (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Palo Alto, California; in-office collaboration required at least 3 days per week

Salary: $235,250–$323,236 base pay annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Define the architectural vision for scalable, maintainable, and high-performance front-end systems.
• Lead AI-first product experiences and the adoption of Google's A2UI specification for agent-driven interfaces.
• Design the renderer strategy, React component catalog, event model, and transport approach connecting agents to the front end.
• Own and evolve the design system, including tokens, primitives, composition patterns, theming, and accessibility.
• Partner with AI, platform, backend, product, and design teams to integrate front-end, backend, and agent systems.
• Review technical work, mentor engineers, manage technical debt, and guide responsible adoption of AI tooling.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience focused on front-end development and UI architecture.
• Deep hands-on expertise in ReactJS, TypeScript, and modern front-end engineering.
• Experience building, scaling, or owning a design system or shared component library with accessibility support.
• Experience designing AI-first user-facing products and using LLM coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex.
• Strong communication, architectural decision-making, performance optimization, accessibility, and responsive design skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Google's A2UI, A2A, AG-UI, or similar generative-UI standards.
• Understanding of Postgres and AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
• Experience with serverless architectures and growth-focused engineering projects.
